The Original Recipe

My grandparents loved to host, and working in academia, they always had students, professors, and friends over for dinners and parties. Since my grandmother was busy cooking dinner and entertaining everyone, she developed an easy dessert that could be served afterward with drinks. It was simple enough for her kids to make, yet crowd-pleasing enough for everyone to enjoy.

A Family Favorite

Dainties became a staple at every family event — said to bring good luck, and always on hand for weddings, holidays, and reunions. Come wedding mornings, the kids and grandkids would be in the kitchen early, whipping out dainties by the dozen for the day ahead. Family friends practically looked forward to occasions just for a chance at the dainties.

Reimagined as Lowtide Goods

Naturally, I grew up with a love of hosting, baking, and making everything from scratch. To me, Dainties were always something magical, tied to so many special moments and the people I love. I started Lowtide Goods to share that magic — helping everyday moments feel like special occasions, with a treat you can share with the people, places, and activities you love.

Handmade in Small Batches

Lowtide Goods is a Chicago-based brand, making and packing Dainties by hand in small batches. Dainties are just the beginning — the first step toward a lot more handmade, from-scratch goods, using recipes that started in my family's kitchen.

About Medina

Medina Krevans is the Chicago-based founder of Lowtide Goods. She started the company in 2024 with the goal of bringing her grandmother’s family recipe to market. Prior to launching Lowtide, Medina studied design engineering at Northwestern University and worked across several startups in operations roles, leading retail, sales, supply chain, and data initiatives.
